Artist Statement
Fascinated with the ever changing landscape, particularly that of Cheshire , seascapes and natural forms, Kate’s media of choice is paint, both oils and acrylics, and fine art printmaking. Passionate about colour Kate is concerned not with producing an accurate depiction of what she sees before her but in conveying the atmosphere, colour, form and essence of her subject matter. She is intrigued by how the three dimensional reality is transformed onto the two dimensional surface of the canvas or paper and to that end she works in a free and experimental way, often adding texture with the use of a palette knife, the addition of collage and stitch and sometimes the dribbling of paint onto the image to emphasise line and form and add drama.
Having lived in Macclesfield for over 30 years Kate has exhibited and sold extensively and her work can be found in private collections locally, nationally and internationally.
